The Plague Cross of St. Zacharias has been used for centuries in times of pestilence for protection and healing. This tradition dates back to 1546, during the council of Trent when a plague was rampant. The design of St. Bishop Zacharias was inscribed on paper, metal, and wood and hung over doors, on walls, in front of churches, and even worn on one's person.
Each letter and prayer on the cross correlates to a prayer to be prayed by priests and laity. This is not a good luck charm, but to be used in faith. These are already blessed, according to the specific blessing for the Plague Crosses.
